Victor Victoria Audition Night 1

Ok... the start of my very first blogged run through of an entire show... From everything involving set design to costumes and makeup and rehearsal schedules.. THIS will take you with me through the whole process.

Last night was the first night of auditions..

Typically with my theatre family, you show up, get your number, fill out the audition sheet and have your picture taken.

Next, Rules of the theatre including technical rules, meeting the director and others involved with the show. They talk about what's expected.. hold over dates.. etc.

Then we started with music. The music director has us all sing parts of "Le Jazz Hot" and "Almost a Love Song"...

For the Character Norma we had to speak using the Brooklyn accent (Very important for her character). We said.. "Pookie", and "Paris makes me Horny".. Yes, Norma is a RIOT!

We went into choreography (I was tempted to record the men dancing like women because it was a riot but didn't). We did some Jazz steps to the beginning of "Le Jazz Hot".

Then to reading scenes. I read for both Victoria and Norma again... One of the scenes required us to hit a really high note after saying.. "Practice makes perfect...AHHHHHHHHHHHH". Now given than my sinuses are giving me heck and my glands are a bit swollen I wasn't sure it would come out or if it did if my voice would crack. THANKFULLY i hit it and man was it LOUD!!!

She ended the night by thanking everyone for coming and I'm called back for tonight! (Actually in this show everyone is called back... we need a lot of bodies on this one).

Be looking for Audition night 2 coming soon!
